The brainchild of car designer, Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Maserati GranCabrio Fendi will be the marriage of two stellar Italian brand names: Maserati and Fendi. The end product, the open hood car, is a perfect blend of perfect craftsmanship and Italian design. The car was exhibited as a luxury sports car at the Frankfurt Motor show in the year 2011 and touted as the collaboration between Maserati and Fendi.
The engine is 4691cc V90° proficient at churning out 446 HP at 7000 RPM, with a peak torque of 490 Nm at 4750 RPM. The timing is activated by two overhead camshafts per bank coupled with four valves per cylinder, which are controlled by hydraulic tappets. This ensures superb accelerations and turns even at high speeds. The 7-speed ZF automatic transmission comes with a hydraulic torque converter to enable extremely fluid gearshifts.
Torque is at an astounding rate of 490 Nm at 4750 RPM. The engine is coupled with a 7-speed automatic transmission gearbox with paddle shifts. The house of Fendi adorns the entire vehicle with its trademark design. The brake calipers and the double-stitched, quilted leather seats are a classic Fendi yellow. The gear knob, dashboard, door panels, and the steering wheel are adorned with Fendi Pergamena wood. To finish off the interior design, Maserati used Fendi’s Selleria leather range, the Cuoio Romano, to fit the carpet, gear level, instrument dials, and the travel kit.
Sports car enthusiasts will not be disappointed with the sound the engine makes. It is an eargasm as the by-pass valve manages the engine making it purr or roar like the one you want. The “Sports button” releases the pneumatic valves and the thunders to 3000 RPM and you can roar on the road like a lion let loose.
The Maserati GranCabrio Fendi also comes fitted with the Skyhook suspension (that detects acceleration via sensors in all four wheels), which is electronically controlled. This system continually adjusts the damping. This means that the car can effectively adapt to your driving style and road conditions to give the utmost in driving pleasure. The handling is controlled by Maserati’s proprietary MSP (Maserati Stability Program), which comes equipped with ABS and EBD as standard.
